Midcoast Corks I recently had the chance to use some interesting new corks unlike anything I have seen over here on the east coast. They are made by a company called MidCoast Products out of Needville, TX and have quote a few cool products available. For most of us over here we have thrown the traditional in-line corks with you main line tied to the top and your leader to the bottom. They work fine once in place but the aerodynamics of casting them leaves a lot to be desired. That’s where MidCoast comes in. They have designed their corks to have both lines tie at the top and allow the lead at the bottom of the cork to lead the rig through the air when cast. Honestly, I was a little skeptical; it looked like a tangle waiting to happen. BUT, much to my delight the rig performs flawlessly! The day we tested them it was blowing about 25 knots and was perfect for the MidCoast Outcast. This thing flew through the air and “outcast” my old cork by about 30-40 yards. I was stoked! Since then I have used MidCoast corks for most all of my cork fishing needs. All corks are bottom weighted with multiple rattle beads that make a ton of racket. They have models for every size tackle and species. The outcast is the long range destroyer. If you are in heavy wind, let it rip! The next one I have experience with is the Inticer. This is a great popping cork and is on a solid steel wire that doesn’t bend. If you’re looking for a bendable one, check out the Mojo. It’s the same basic size as the Inticer but on flexible cable. For light tackle outfits there are a few to choose from. The Rage has no lead on it and 2 rattle beads and the Lil Bit and Lil Moe and much smaller in size. All in all, MidCoast has you covered on any type of fishing you might need a cork. They are great guys and are happy to help if you have any question. If you use corks, you owe it to yourself to add some of these to you tackle box. It will add a lot more coverage to your cast when fishing with floats. Hope this helps and standing by!!
